Perform a variety of technical procedures by exposure of a static magnetic field and the application of Radio frequency waves to obtain superb quality images for interpretation by a radiologist, ensure patient safety and provide excellent customer services. Responsibilities

Prepare and calibrate the MRI unit for daily operations on both low and high field magnets. Select proper imaging parameters based on an individual patient basis. Screen patients and visitors prior to entering the MR procedure room. Assess patient physical condition with respect to patient’s tolerance to complete the exam. Clearly explain to the patient the MRI exam and what to expect. Verify and/or obtain informed consent for examinations requiring consent. Obtain and record patient history from the patient’s chart, referring physician requisitions, and/or by interviewing the patient. Place patient on proper gurney for proper imaging position. Place proper coil for satisfactory examination. Protect and immobilize patient in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Utilize a wide variety of technical equipment including computers, radio frequency generators, gradient coils, multi-format cameras, film processors, and other miscellaneous equipment to produce MRI images. Utilize complex algorithms to produce axial, sagittal, coronal, and oblique MRI images. Label imaging medium to be interpreted by the radiologist. Troubleshoot equipment problems and report to proper personnel. Assist the radiologist in modifying and developing new imaging protocols. Assist in the development of technical factors and image medium selection. Participate in continuing educational in-service for technical staff and other hospital support staff. Participate in clinical instruction and supervision of radiological technologist students. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the latest developments in the MRI field. Practice sterile technique and follow infection control procedures. Observe hospital policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain ethical conduct with all medical and non-medical personnel. Maintain a clean and orderly working area. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required. Job Qualifications and Specifications

EDUCATION:

Satisfactory completion of a formal school of radiological technology approved by AMA. CPR Certification Required. A registered technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. Minimum one year of MRI experience or be MRI certified by ARRT.
