We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists who is dynamic, innovative and passionate. This is an opportunity for a team player to join a forward thinking MSK Department that works closely and collaboratively with the wider MSK Team, MSK Advanced Practitioners and our FCP Colleagues in Primary Care.

The ability to confidently triage, assess and manage a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions is essential. This role will involve overseeing junior members of staff and student physiotherapists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will receive support from the Adult MSK Physiotherapy Manager and the MSK Team Leads, as well as profession specific support as agreed locally. The post holder will be required to provide Physiotherapy assessments and interventions to the local community (aged 16 +). They will involve screening and prioritising of referrals and workload daily, delegation and assignment of work and management of a caseload of clients.

The post holder will also provide support to the other members of the outpatient team including clinical supervision to Band 5/6 Physiotherapist where appropriate. Where appropriate the post holder will be responsible for representing Physiotherapy team at relevant meetings. The post holder will be expected to contribute to projects and developments taking forward Physiotherapy within the county as appropriate.

Job responsibilities

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and working alone as a highly skilled clinician providing guidance within their specialist field. To be professionally and legally accountable for a designated patient caseload and to decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands. To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload. To assess patients capacity, gain valid informed consent to treatment and where such capacity is lacking/absent to work within a legal framework in the management of the patient. To undertake the comprehensive assessment and accurate diagnosis of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using expert investigative analytical and enhanced clinical reasoning skills. To use expert clinical reasoning skills frequently with no access to other colleagues. To formulate individualised clinical management programmes utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to plan a specialised programme of care. To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers, other disciplines and agencies to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy for each individual patient and to ensure continuation of the individualised treatment programme. This will include manual handling advice. To be competent in using System one for computerised patient records and ensure notes are written up in a timely manner. Qualifications

Essential

Degree or Diploma qualification in Physiotherapy. Appropriate range of postgraduate clinical education. Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). Desirable

Active participation in a relevant interest group. Completion of Clinical Educators course or equivalent. Experience

Essential

Relevant postgraduate clinical experience. To have a good working knowledge of relevant national standards to which quality of practice should be monitored. Evidence of having worked unsupervised. Experience of having supervised staff who are directly accountable to the post holder. Desirable

Experience of implementing clinical guidelines and standards. Knowledge

Essential

The ability to discuss the clinical reasoning process in the management of complex cases. The ability to facilitate reflective practice and learning in others. Good communication skills both verbal and non-verbal and written when interacting with members of the team, other professionals, clients and their families. The ability to demonstrate an understanding of the NHS and the challenges facing the physiotherapy service. Desirable
