We are currently looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our skilled team at our galvanizing plant in Chesterfield. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of our equipment is maintained throughout the site. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about mechanical and electrical engineering, with experience in both fields.
Our Chesterfield facility is our largest single site, offering ample space for handling projects such as structural sections, lighting columns, and general fabrication work. Centrally located near junction 29 of the M1, we manage a range of large-scale projects, including storage before and after hot dip galvanising.
As part of the maintenance team, you will service and maintain automated and manual equipment, working with a high volume of overhead gantry cranes and other machinery. You must be comfortable working at heights and operating a MEWP. A strong knowledge of three-phase electrical installation, motors, and inverter drives is essential, alongside excellent troubleshooting skills.
Main Responsibilities:
Work permanently on the night shift as the Maintenance Representative.
Complete a training and site familiarisation period on the day shift.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance routines, including mechanical and electrical repairs and refurbishments.
Resolve ad-hoc breakdowns promptly.
Proactively develop operational processes and equipment to enhance efficiency.
Inspect and test equipment to ensure safe operation.
Supervise visitors/contractors as required.
Support the business and production teams as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
Highly skilled and experienced in both mechanical and electrical engineering with a recognised electrical qualification.
Experience in working with planned preventative maintenance systems.
Some fabrication experience is desirable but not essential.
Proven experience in complex electrical fault finding.
Experience with PLC systems (basic), motors, drives, and electrical drawings is beneficial.
Crane experience is desirable.
