COMPETITIVE Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity to join the Engineering team in a permanent role as a Multi Skilled Engineer (mechanical or electrical bias) based at our Hamilton site as part of ‘Finsbury Food Group’. 135 years of craft baking skills lie behind the quality of the special branded cakes, sweet snacks, and slices we produce in Hamilton, with 55 million products produced each year. Lightbody is the UK’s largest supplier of celebration cakes to UK retailers, with Disney, Mars, Universal, and Thorntons all within the portfolio of branded cakes made under licence. To be successful in this role, you will be a fully qualified multi-skilled engineer with electrical bias and preferably with experience in the food manufacturing industry. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, work as part of a team, and demonstrate clear communication skills. This is what you’ll actually do! In this busy and varied role, you will be a vital part of the Engineering team and will be responsible for assisting in the daily maintenance of production equipment. You will deal with unscheduled and emergency maintenance work, including fault finding and necessary repairs, ensuring quick and efficient management of breakdowns. You will strive to identify the root cause on each occasion and will be responsible for booking the duration, root cause, and materials used through the Company CMMS. You will also deliver the maintenance programme in line with the planned preventative maintenance vision, performing all works with a ‘clean as you go’ ethic in accordance with good manufacturing practice. You will ensure that maintenance work is carried out with due diligence and in compliance with food safety, health and safety, and legal and quality systems. There will be opportunities within the role to participate in project work, including continuous and profit improvement, and share your ideas about improvements to production lines, individual machinery, or other operations. In this role, you will work closely with the site operations team, requiring good communication to build positive relationships with key stakeholders. Ideally, this is you! Fully qualified multi-skilled engineer with relevant qualifications Electrical or mechanical bias Previous working experience in an FMCG environment would be an advantage Experience in a lean/continuous improvement environment Flexible with a hands-on approach Excellent communication skills Able to work on your own initiative Able to work under pressure Attention to detail Team player What’s in it for you!
