Lactalis Stranraer, a subsidiary of Lactalis UK & Ireland, which has an annual turnover in excess of £250m and is part of the world’s largest dairy company, is now looking to recruit a multi-skilled laboratory technician within the Lactalis site Quality team based in Stranraer.
As part of the rotational shift team, you will carry out calibration work on instruments used in the laboratory and factory, and organise and submit samples to our external laboratory for microbiology & chemistry testing. You will be required to collect samples of raw materials, rinse water, ingredients, and finished product, download results, and report anything out of specification. You will also do environmental & plant swabbing and adhere to good housekeeping principles.
Ideally, you will possess a knowledge of food science and lab testing processes coupled with previous lab experience. You should have a positive “can do” attitude and the ability to work at a fast pace in addition to having good attention to detail and being personally well organised. You should be able to use MS Office, especially Excel, and also be able to communicate information to all levels of the organisation. You will also possess a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, although training can be given for the right person.
