A vacancy has arisen for a Multi Trade Craftsperson at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Working for the Operations and Maintenance Division, as part of a multi-discipline team providing reactive and planned preventative maintenance to Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals. Main Duties of the Job

To observe current health & safety and hospital guidelines in maintaining own and other health, safety and security including infection control, completing risk assessments for all work-related activities. Use and be competent in the uses of all relevant hand and power tools & equipment. The post holder must have the ability to plan their own workload being able to complete work issued by supervisors. Ensure a safe working environment, protecting all employees, staff, and members of the public at all times. To carry out planned and reactive maintenance on various equipment, dealing with competing work priorities, and recording the results and outcomes of inspections, tests, and repairs. This may also include attending and assisting in emergency situations, such as fire evacuations or floods. Undertake types of work which may previously have been carried out by other trade groups, including ceiling tile replacement, replacement of WC seats, replacement of filters, grille cleaning, replacement/re-fixing of fixtures & fittings, routine checks (meter readings), painting, ceramic tiling, replacing floor/carpet tiling, and emergency clear-ups. Assist contractors by providing guidance on the location of a problem. Effectively communicate with supervisors and other department managers and staff. About Us

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Advanced Craft City & Guilds in Bricklaying, Plastering or equivalent, which has been studied while completing a recognised apprenticeship (between 3 & 5 years) and a broad, post-apprenticeship experience (ideally 5 years) of work undertaken by Bricklaying/Plastering craftsmen. Engineering/Building based NVQ level 2/3 qualification outside of core trade, which allows the post holder to work in a multi-skilled way. Those entering the service without these qualifications will need to complete relevant training within 12 months. Other Requirements

Clean full driving licence for private light goods vehicle. Personal Attributes

Reliability, enthusiasm, and flexibility. Good time management and self-management skills. Lateral thinker. Ability to communicate at all levels. Ability to work effectively on own or as part of a team. Self-motivated. Clean and tidy appearance. Good telephone manner. Knowledge and Skills

Completed relevant Health and Safety training. Safety regulations pertaining to the work being undertaken. Reading and interpreting technical drawings and manufacturers' technical literature as required. Traditional and modern building techniques. Working in a complex building. The post holder must be able to demonstrate a wide technical knowledge and broad experience of all aspects of work undertaken by a multi-trade craftsman. Knowledge of demountable partition and false ceiling systems. Customer Service Principles and Practice. Health & Safety. First Aid. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
