We are a long established renowned SATB adult choir (reg charity 1104982) with a membership of around 40. Our details and history can be found on our website, www.andoverchoralsociety.org.uk. We are looking for a Musical Director to continue our programme of 2 concerts per year, usually a classical repertoire but we have a flexible outlook. The choir is non-auditioning and run by a committee of dedicated volunteers.
Our ideal candidate should be able to work as a team with the committee to recommend the choice of music together with costings. They should lead weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings during the 2 seasons, between 7.30pm and 9.00pm at our rehearsal venue in Rookwood School, Weyhill Road, Andover. They should obtain the services of an accompanist for rehearsals and attend committee meetings, usually 2 per term. For this, the MD will be paid a fee for each rehearsal and performance.
The Musical Director should seek the services of any soloists and orchestra as required for the concerts and agree appropriate fees to be paid to them, in agreement with the Society's Treasurer. They should obtain the services of a locum in the case of unavoidable absence from rehearsal and agree the fee to be paid.
Interviews will be held with a small panel from the ACS committee, with employment starting on 8 January 2025.
