Di Voci Women's Choir, Altrincham, Cheshire, wishes to appoint a new Musical Director to take up the post in September 2024 when Lorraine Brown, our inspirational founder and Musical Director for the past 17 years, is to step down. Di Voci is a choir of 40 women from all backgrounds, most (but not all) of whom read music. We rehearse on a Monday from 7.20 to 9.00 during school term times. We are a committed and supportive group that takes its musical development as seriously as it does the social and supportive aspects of being a cohesive group. We work hard at our music and at maintaining relationships within the choir. We see sharing laughter and having fun as integral parts of our life in this singing community. About Us

We perform a wide range of music including sacred and secular music. We are fortunate to have as our patron the composer and soprano Sasha Johnson Manning who has written a number of works for us to perform. We go on tour regularly alternating 'at home' and further afield events. Periodically we enter competitions. We have enjoyed winning trophies in the past but we mainly compete to enhance our musical development. This year we have accepted an invitation from the Llangollen International Eisteddfod to compete. We expect to perform at least 2 concerts each year (June and December); we sing as guests at concerts held by musician colleagues and we respond to invitations to sing at charity and private events. We support the Light up a Life service of our local Hospice every year. Candidate Requirements

We want to appoint a MD who will enable us to build on an already secure foundation. To this end we believe that candidates should have: Prior experience of conducting an adult choir. Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of vocal technique to enable continued development and maintain high standards. The ability to continue to introduce new, exciting and challenging repertoire, both contemporary and classical. Music training and qualifications. Additionally, we believe it is desirable that candidates have: The ability to balance professionalism with enthusiasm and energy. The ability to work effectively in committee. A good sense of humour. Compensation

Successful applicants will be offered an honorarium, to include an element for financing CPD. We are a 'not-for-profit' organisation. Application Process

For more information about the post or the choir please contact the Secretary at the address below. For more information about Di Voci please go to our website

https://divoci.co.uk/ . We hope you will want to make an application which should include: Your CV A covering letter of application addressing the professional and personal qualities listed above, along with an indication of your particular areas of musical interest. Please email your application to the Secretary at divociladieschoir@gmail.com. Applications must be received by Saturday 16 March 2024. Short-listed candidates will be invited for interview and audition in May or June.
