Job summary
The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust provides Acute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-built hospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, Acute Elderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit.
Successful applicants will support the Respiratory Medicine specialty team in the management of their in-patient & outpatient workload and will participate in the Trust-wide out-of-hours cover across both hospital sites.
In 2019 the Respiratory Team were Clinical Team of the Year in our Celebrating Excellence awards. We believe that we have continued to provide a high standard of care despite the challenges of the pandemic.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post will include:
Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases.
Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate.
Out-patient activities - clinics.
Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
Involvement in relevant administration duties.
Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate.
Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities.

Trainees in Intensive Care Medicine who are applying with the intention to dual train, will be eligible if they can demonstrate all of the following: completion of UK Core Medical Training or ACCS Acute Medicine; successful completion of ST3 in ICM by the advertised post start date; making satisfactory progress with their ICM training, evidenced by ARCP. Be able to provide complete details of their employment history. Have evidence that their career progression is consistent with their personal circumstances. Have evidence that their present level of achievement and performance is commensurate with the totality of their period of training. Have sufficient experience working in medical specialties (not including foundation level experience) by the advertised post start date.
