National Account Manager – Discounter
Hybrid Working - Midlands
£60,000 + benefits
I am currently working with a leading provider of high-quality pet products, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of pets across the nation. Who are looking for a talented NAM/SNAM to join the business taking responsibility for the discounter channel. Think B&M, Heron, Poundland etc.
Having acquired a number of exciting brands and instilling a leadership team that have a track record with some of the best known food and drinks brands, this business is about to blow up and you can be forefront of that! We're talking 3x growth on a business already hitting £100m!
Ideally we are looking for somebody from a food or drink background that wants to join an exciting and growing category. You will have experience with the discounter channel and be comfortable developing deep relationships with these customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with the likes of B&M, Heron, Poundland, TJ Morris, Savers etc.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring alignment on goals, strategies, and execution.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotional agreements with retailers to drive revenue growth and profitability.
- Work closely with buyers and category managers to build strong product placements and promotional plans.
- Develop and implement account-specific sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities to increase product presence instore.
- Monitor and analyse sales performance, tracking KPIs and identifying areas for improvement.
- Work with internal teams including marketing, operations, and supply chain to ensure seamless execution of programs and initiatives.
- Provide regular feedback and insights to product development, marketing, and customer service teams to improve customer satisfaction and product offerings.
- Conduct regular business reviews and provide detailed reports on account performance, trends, and competitive landscape.
- Utilise data and insights to recommend strategies to drive sales growth and enhance customer loyalty.
- Own the budget and P&L for assigned accounts, ensuring profitability through effective pricing, promotions, and cost management.
- Monitor and manage trade spend, ensuring proper allocation to maximise ROI.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in account management, business development, or sales management, preferably within the discounter and food or drink industry.
- Proven experience managing accounts (regional or national) and driving sales growth.
- Strong understanding of the landscape, including category management, merchandising, and supply chain dynamics.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with retail partners.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends, sales data, and account performance.
- Results-driven with a track record of exceeding sales targets and delivering profitable growth.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Excel, PowerPoint, and other business tools.
