Primary Purpose of Position: Specialising in the design, construction, and maintenance of ships, boats, and marine structures. The naval architect will have strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. Main Duties & Responsibilities: Design and Development:

Create and develop innovative offshore and marine designs, focusing on performance, stability, and safety against appropriate marine and offshore codes. Technical Analysis:

Conduct structural and hydrodynamic analyses using simulation software and other technical tools. Project Management:

Oversee various stages of design development, coordinating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure timelines and budgets are met. Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all designs and construction methods meet regulatory standards and safety protocols. Documentation:

Prepare detailed technical reports, blueprints, and documentation as needed for stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Collaboration:

Work closely with engineers, drafters, and fabrication teams to bring designs to life and troubleshoot any project challenges. Skills & Abilities: Technical Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of naval architecture principles, structural engineering, and hydrodynamics. Software Expertise:

Proficiency in CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS), FEA simulation software (ANSYS, FES2000, STAAD), and understanding of marine simulation software (e.g., ORCAFlex). Problem-Solving:

Ability to analyse complex issues and develop effective, innovative solutions. Project Management:

Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Attention to Detail:

Exceptional precision in design, analysis, and documentation. Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication for effective collaboration and reporting. Team Collaboration:

Ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams, fostering a cooperative work environment. Adaptability:

Flexible in handling evolving project requirements and new technological challenges. Critical Thinking:

Ability to assess and refine processes for efficiency and performance improvement. Leadership:

Capable of mentoring junior staff and leading teams in project tasks, developing a structure with the Engineering Manager for design work. Qualifications: Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field. Experience:

Proven experience in ship or marine structure design and project management, preferably 5+ years in the industry. Certifications:

Professional certification or license in naval architecture (preferred but not mandatory). This can be worked toward and supported within the company. Mon-Fri - Hybrid/Remote options available. Salary dependent on experience - call for further details.
