Job Description

We are looking for someone to deliver the engineering required for the management of the Non Destructive Testing contract which is separated from the MEH installation contract. It covers standard NDT processes (Radiography, Ultrasonic testing, Dye penetrant testing, Magnetic particle inspection) but also a more specific NDT which is: the Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT). Contextual Information: The MEH programme is about to enter a change in delivery phase to commence bulk installation on site from the start of 2024, whereas previously the focus has been on securing the design and manufacturing. As such the spotlight will fall on the construction leads for the engineering delivery of the site scope. The NDT CEL reports functionally to the “BNI & BOP Piping – Contract Engineering Lead” and “BNI & BOP Piping – Engineering Construction Lead”. The current Engineering Construction team size is 9 engineers, however this will grow to match the workload on site and will involve operational leadership of a matrixed team. As this is a front-line site delivery role, there is a necessity to work with flexibility and be able to work under the time pressure of the schedule in order to unblock technical issues to allow continuity of work by the installation teams. Frameworks and Boundaries The NDT CEL works closely with the installation Contract Engineering Lead and reports to the Engineering Construction Lead who is part of a wider team of Leaders delivering the E2E life cycle of the piping scope. Delivery of the upstream engineering sequence is outside the scope of the Engineering Construction team, however they should ensure integration with the other areas of the team and other disciplines. The NDT CEL will have delegation to perform decision making on site within a defined boundary to allow efficient and quick resolution of topics. Work in close relation with the NDT Contract Project manager and Technical Lead. Support: the contractor documentation management by producing and updating the List of Document required from the contractor and the associated Surveillance plan. the development and implementation on-site of the PAUT solution to replace radiography. the answering of Technical queries and Early Warnings. the coordination of activities between the Installation contract and NDT contract.
