Brighton & Hove City Council Job Introduction

Brighton & Hove is a great place to live, learn, work and visit. Our diverse and vibrant community is passionate about the city and there’s a shared commitment to celebrating and promoting all that makes Brighton & Hove so unique. We are committed to delivering an outstanding service to our residents as we are in making Tenancy Services the first choice for a Neighbourhood Officer to work. If you are looking to work in a flexible and forward-thinking organisation and you are seeking an exciting new challenge, we would be delighted to hear from you. You’ll be working in a directorate dedicated to empowering people from different communities and backgrounds to come together, live well, and thrive, supported by our city-wide work on fairness, inclusion, and engagement. The role of a Neighbourhood Officer is to provide a responsive and customer-focused neighbourhood service to the residents and common areas of estates, working collaboratively with council colleagues, external providers, and relevant community networks to improve the estates and the quality of life for residents and facilitate the development of thriving communities. You’ll have the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, an understanding of the needs of our different communities and residents, and the skills to ensure accessibility and inclusion in your work. We have a number of full-time vacancies available, with some flexible working to support a positive work/life balance. Our diverse team is based across the city in one of our two housing offices and at our Housing Centre based in Moulsecoomb and Town Hall in Hove. On the days you are working in the office, you will be in a spacious and welcoming environment, and whether working in the office or remotely, you will become part of our friendly and supportive team. In return, we can offer you a competitive salary, training and qualifications, career progression with opportunities to lead on bespoke projects, flexible working, a generous annual leave allowance with the opportunity to buy extra days, staff discounts, and admittance into the Local Government Pension Scheme. For more information about the organisation and the specific roles, please download the job description/person specification. Application Process

Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully. They provide all the guidance you need to complete your application, as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview. As part of your application, you will need to upload your Application Form and answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance on Application Form and Shortlisting guidance as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process. Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only. We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing while providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work-life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team, and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense. Company Information

Encouraging a Diverse Workforce We are committed to developing and retaining a workforce that is representative of the diverse communities that we serve and has insight into the lived experience of our tenants, so we welcome and encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds.
