Numerous professional development opportunities exist for our Neonatal Nurses to develop skills in leadership in areas such as quality improvement, research, outreach, dedicated transitional care, family integrated care, BFI, palliative care/bereavement, education and training (we run 4 NLS courses a year in Swindon) and risk and governance. We are a local neonatal unit (LNU) within the south west ODN. We have 5000 deliveries per year with approximately 10% born prematurely. We are part of the Maternity and Neonatal services umbrella and have a very close multidisciplinary working ethos with our midwifery and obstetric team. Job responsibilities

We are looking to recruit Neonatal Nurses who are enthusiastic, forward-thinking, compassionate, and caring to complement our ever-expanding innovative team. Band 6 sisters run the unit on a day-to-day basis as a supernumerary shift coordinator. They are responsible for leading the nursing team ensuring the babies and their parents are at the center of everything we do. They uphold standards and are a role model to ensure quality of care is delivered to babies across the multidisciplinary team. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Current NMC Registration FLAP or equivalent. Qualified in Speciality NALS Degree or equivalent training and experience (RCN / Diploma in Child Health or RGN) Desirable

Level 3 safeguarding children Experience

Essential

Continuing experience of mentorship within a neonatal setting. Competent in all aspects for neonatal care from special care to intensive care. Demonstrable experience of working in a neonatal unit Desirable

Participation in audit and research Management experience. Knowledge

Essential

Ability to work well under pressure. Able to effectively manage daily operational issues. Demonstrate reflective practice. Ability to develop personal & unit initiatives. Understanding of the concept of clinical supervision. Evidence of effective child protection and safeguarding working. Desirable

Evidence of recent clinical development/best practice and integration theory into practice. Evidence-based knowledge of a wide variety of neonatal/paediatric conditions. Understanding of audit tools to support good practice. Employer details
