The Neonatal Transitional Care Nursery Nurse will work as part of the neonatal and postnatal team under the supervision of the transitional care lead nurse and the neonatal unit senior sisters.
The post holder will work on the transitional care unit, based on the postnatal ward. There will be opportunities to rotate to the neonatal unit and also involve working with the inpatient maternity team. They will be responsible for continuing work with the transitional care team in keeping babies with their mothers, conducting regular observations, and assisting the doctors where needed.
Successful implementation of NTC also requires joint working between community, midwifery, neonatal, and paediatric teams. Therefore, it is essential that the post holder is able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and diverse team.
The role involves ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality NTC at the Trust, prioritising the needs of both mother and baby. This approach is essential to the family-centred care philosophy within the maternity unit.
Regular Observation:
Conduct regular observations to monitor the health and well-being of mothers and babies.
Breastfeeding Support:
Assist mothers in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding.
Care for Babies:
Provide care for babies undergoing treatments such as antibiotics or phototherapy.
Collaborative Work:
Work alongside midwives, neonatal nurses, and neonatologists to deliver comprehensive care.
Motivated and Innovative:
