Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides health and social care services in acute and primary care settings, community hospitals, and care centres, through the 11,000 employed staff. The Trust spans over two counties of North Tyneside and Northumberland, and has a main WAN MPLS between the main hospitals in those regions.

Northumbria Digital Services team provide IT services to all of the Trust's directorates, departments and subsidiaries. This role is to support the team to ensure the campus LAN, WAN and Wifi services are correctly designed, implemented, secured and supported to match the digital delivery needs and ambitions of the Trust's digital strategy.

Main duties of the job

To provide Management and support for the Trust's wide and Local Area Networks in conjunction with the Network Infrastructure Manager. Provide infrastructure support to ensure high availability, security and usability of the network that is transparent to users. Work closely with the Network infrastructure engineers and associates to ensure any routine work is up to standard with quality assurance checks. 2nd line escalation for problems that network engineers and associates need assistance with.

To ensure high availability, security and usability of the network that is transparent to users. Liaise with suppliers to ensure effective implementation of the design, by coordinated implementation of the new infrastructure. To document network infrastructure as it is developed and maintained.

Person Specification

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

Significant experience of managing a network infrastructure across multiple sites.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Degree level in computer related discipline or equivalent / demonstrable level of network knowledge. Additional specialist network related knowledge is advantageous. Good understanding of Networking infrastructure and protocols.

Desirable

Appropriate industry recognised qualifications e.g. CCNA or equivalent.
