Network Manager Location: Wigan (Hybrid) Salary: Competitive, based on experience With over 18 years of industry experience, my client is one of the UK's leading managed service companies, offering a range of services including GDPR-compliant guest Wi-Fi, SD-WAN networks, managed Wi-Fi/LAN infrastructure, broadband/leased lines, network security & IT support. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Network Manager to lead a dedicated team responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of the network infrastructure. This key role will help drive the security, efficiency, and scalability of both internal and client networks, with a focus on major retail brands across the globe. The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of IP Networks, routing protocols, and hands-on experience with network implementation, having led a team in the past. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design innovative network solutions, troubleshoot challenges, and offer expert consultancy on B2B network links. Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Network Team, fostering collaboration and attention to detail while supporting the NOC function. Develop and execute network strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and security for our clients. Collaborate with Network Architects to design, implement, and maintain both internal and customer network infrastructures. Assist the NOC Manager in proactively monitoring network infrastructure and performance. Work closely with other departments to provide network support and ensure smooth collaboration with the NOC team. Oversee the delivery of network changes in line with Change Management processes. Train and develop the team to meet agreed SLAs and service targets. Ensure network management tools are fully operational and accessible to other teams (NOC, Operations). Support senior team members in achieving KPI targets. Document technical standards, maintain network diagrams, and update the knowledge base for all network changes. Participate in out-of-hours work and be available for on-call escalation duties. Qualifications & Experience:

CCNA or higher qualification preferred. Demonstrated experience as a Network Manager or in a similar management role. Proven ability to manage teams with a focus on SLAs and escalations. Familiarity with Mako networks and other network technologies. Knowledge of Firewalls and IPSec, as well as multi-site VPN configuration and setup. Strong understanding of IP schemes in complex environments. Expertise in Wi-Fi technology. Proficiency in researching, presenting, and implementing technical solutions. Strong experience with WAN/LAN environments and network design. Exposure to project management is a plus. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively. Ability to communicate and collaborate across different stakeholder groups. SD-WAN knowledge is desirable but not essential; training will be provided. Familiarity with PCI DSS is beneficial.
