SF At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Network Operations Engineer at our Hawthorn site. The role As a Network Operations Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the contract to manage and operate Skynet, the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) military satellite communications system and ground stations. Day-to-day, you’ll perform health checks of the network and underlying infrastructure, as well as: Answer customer queries and assist with satellite acquisition. Assist other Babcock teams in test and repair activities. Generate reports to validate network state and inform customers. This role is full time and based onsite at our Hawthorn location. Essential experience of the Network Operations Engineer: Good IP switching and routing skills, to CCNA/CCNP level Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry in general Exposure to / familiarity with satellite communications systems Knowledge of digital broadcast technologies Qualifications for the Network Operations Engineer: Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don’t hold formal qualifications. Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
