We are looking for a Neuromodulation Nurse to work with our friendly and supportive team, based at our purpose-built facility in Radlett.

You will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including joint working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to meet the needs of the patients and carers to ensure that they are working to HPFT Clinical Policies and Procedures/Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Practice and Standards.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will: Receive training to acquire the skills and experience to be able to work flexibly across all areas within the Neuromodulation Service. Support the processing of all referrals into the Neuromodulation Service, ensuring that they are discussed as an MDT and the patient is taken onto the most appropriate treatment pathway. Participate in the management of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) to ensure the service is meeting accepted quality and safety standards in accordance with national and local guidelines, obtaining and maintaining ECTAS Accreditation standards, and providing a consistent approach across the Trust. Deliver effective and safe services which support the key elements of clinical/practice governance. Focus on supporting the team to introduce ways of continuously improving the quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence will flourish.

Job responsibilities

To have the clinical skills relative to the delivery of Neuromodulation services. To ensure all treatment suites are properly prepared, organised and maintained for practice in accordance with treatment protocols and accreditation standards. To ensure regular maintenance of equipment and the facilities in the treatment suites, in accordance with Trust policy and procedure. To contribute towards effective management and utilisation of resources with the treatment suites. To participate in assessment, care planning and review of all services users referred for treatment as appropriate, with the relevant disciplines. To recognise and promote all aspects of equality and diversity whilst assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care. To carry out clinical nursing procedures/techniques for treatment, including pre-treatment clinical assessment and interventions, as well as during and post treatment.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

RNMH/RNLD/RGN with minimum experience following qualification. TMS Training. Current NMC Membership. Microsoft Office Package Training. Intermediate Life Support Training.

Desirable

Specialist knowledge of ECT, related to theory, efficacy, practices, and procedures. Professional Degree. ECT Foundation Course. Experienced ECT Nurse Course.

Experience

Essential

Leadership and motivational skills. Organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a management structure. Experience of assessing and managing clinical risk. Experience of working as part of an MDT and communicate efficiently. Evidence based interventions. Medication Management. Legal issues relating to consent and the MHA, MCA. Issues involved in the treatment of mental illness and key features of relapse prevention.

Desirable

Clinical Supervision experience. Teaching/Training experience.
