Main duties of the job

Manage expected (and occasional unexpected) clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need, referring to a senior member of staff where appropriate e.g. in an unexpected event. Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. imparting bad news or following an unexpected event. Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards. Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented, and evaluated, involving patients and users. Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team including situations where difficulties in comprehension occur. Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce, and resource data.

We are a designated Major Trauma Centre providing Emergency and Elective care in: Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Stroke & Orthopaedics alongside a designated cancer centre and the provision of: IVF, Maternity, Endocrine and Renal patient care.

Nursing at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has developed strong links to Coventry University for the centre of Care excellence and our purpose-built Clinical Sciences Building offers a whole range of facilities to aid your education and training including a modern library with excellent IT facilities.

If you are successfully short-listed, you will be invited to attend a Recruitment Centre to sit a Trust Values Assessment paper.

Please Note - Upon submission and completion of your academic coursework you will be eligible to apply for your Nursing & Midwifery (NMC) pin number. Following this, you will be able to commence with us in the capacity of a Band 4 Pre-Registration nurse, until you are in receipt of your pin. At such time you will then progress to a Band 5 Nurse.
