Newton International Fellowship
in the field of
Geotechnical Engineering . Candidates with expertise and a strong research interest in the following areas are highly encouraged to apply: Offshore Geotechnics : Addressing challenges in foundation and anchor design for renewable energy infrastructures such as floating offshore wind turbines. Slope Stability and Analysis : Investigating the effects of spatial variability, rainfall, and external loading on slope stability through numerical modelling, physical testing, or probabilistic approaches. Machine Learning in Geotechnical Engineering : Utilising data-driven approaches to model and predict soil-structure interactions or other complex geotechnical problems. Reliability-Based/Probabilistic Geotechnical Analysis : Developing methods to incorporate uncertainty and variability in geotechnical design, ensuring safer and more economical solutions. Minimum Requirements
A PhD or nearing completion of a PhD, with the degree to be awarded before the fellowship start date. No more than seven years of active full-time postdoctoral experience (career breaks will be considered). Applicants must be working outside the UK and should not hold UK citizenship at the time of application. Proficiency in both written and spoken English. Duration : Two years, commencing by March 2026. Funding : Up to £280,000, covering salary, research expenses, and relocation/visa costs. How to Apply:
