We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse to join our dynamic team with a Qualified in Specialty (QIS) qualification. Our expert team consists of a large multidisciplinary team (MDT) of nurses, nursery nurses, medics, consultants, and allied health care professionals, all committed to providing high-quality, individualised care. Main duties of the job

Our NICU is one of three Level 3 centres operating in the South West neonatal network. As a tertiary centre, we care for babies with respiratory, surgical, neurological, and cardiac needs, including extreme pre-term and term babies from across the South West. Our mission is to provide consistent and excellent family-centred care with the best possible outcomes for all our patients and their families. Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate prescribed treatment and care for patients and their families. Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patients’ carers and the multi-disciplinary team. Act as a professional role model setting standards of practice. Promote clinical effectiveness and opportunities for teaching junior colleagues and students. Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients. Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy. Develop clinical skills and participate in continuous professional development. Provide accurate, timely, contemporary records of care and treatment in line with Trust record keeping policy and NMC. Person specification

Supportive Respectful Qualifications and Training

RSCN Part 8/RN (Child branch, part 15) or RN qualification Current NMC Registration Post Basic Certificate or related study in Neonatal Critical Care 1st Degree in Nursing or health-related subject or working towards Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers, and MDT Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids Ability to initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient Clinical decision-making ability Ability to work with minimum supervision Act in a professional manner Self-motivated A team player Recognition of own limits Teaching/supervisory skills Knowledge
