37.5 Hours per week over 7 days 1 year secondment Do you have a passion for respiratory Nursing? Are you looking for a new challenge? Medical Service Line 2 is looking for a dynamic and motivated nurse with 3 years post registration and experience working in acute respiratory medicine to work collaboratively with the well-established senior teams on ward 9/10 to support the NIV Outreach Service. You will be based on ward 9 / 10. You will provide support to other wards around the Trust supporting Respiratory Patients. You will need to possess excellent communication skills, have a can-do attitude with a commitment to undergo rapid training on ward 9 and with the NIV Specialist nursing team. You must be able to contribute to teaching and education to junior members of the team. This post is subject to enhanced CRB disclosure and References. Main duties of the job

To provide the highest standard of holistic care for patients through the utilization of enhanced clinical skills and advice in the assessment and management of patients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to improve and maintain the quality and safety of patient care. To contribute to the delivery and development of Respiratory and NIV Service through the use of effective evidence-based practice in line with agreed national standards for clinical practice. To be accountable for the planning and delivery of all aspects of patient care in relation to the Respiratory and NIV Services as set out in the NMC Code. To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance framework to ensure the highest quality of care is provided in the safest manner. To work as a senior member of a clinical team, in the provision of comprehensive Respiratory, NIV and Virtual ward Services. To communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients, carers and the public. To act as a resource and role model for the profession at all times. To provide education and training to clinical staff and internal/external agencies. To manage own caseload of patients and independently review patients in primary and secondary settings with a range of respiratory conditions. About us

Job responsibilities

Develop and deliver NIV service. Support an environment where health promotion and informed patient choice is encouraged and developed to its maximum potential, with the available resources. Support the evaluation of Respiratory / NIV Practice by monitoring the standards of care and ensuring that nursing practice is audited and research-based in order to provide a continually improving service and support the clinical governance framework. Request patient investigations within protocols and manage patient care with own professional Respiratory / NIV competence. Monitor treatment compliance and advise on modifications to treatment within agreed guidelines and protocols. Contribute to the development of nursing practice guidelines, policies and protocols/care pathways within Respiratory / NIV Medicine. Act as patients advocate in all matters relating to his or her care, treatment and welfare; acknowledging and incorporating cultural preferences, health beliefs and behaviors. Demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills through delivery of respiratory / NIV practice to the highest standard. Act as a professional role model and provide specialist support and advice to colleagues. Take a lead in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care in partnership with the patient and the multidisciplinary team. Respond to enquiries from patients, relatives and carers; deal with concerns, formal complaints, PALS concerns and actively problem solve to improve the patients experience. Comply with NMC Professional Registration; practice in line with current NMC Code and keep up to date with current nursing practices. Person Specification

Qualifications

Current RN NMC registration. Diploma in Nursing. Degree in Nursing or working towards. Experience in respiratory medicine

Evidence of experience. Courses relevant to role. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
