About you As an NMR Scientist, you will be working within a diverse environment which will provide an opportunity to utilize your skillset and knowledge to act as an independent member of the team. You will be expected to act as a Scientist working across a vast array of projects which will range in scale, scope, and timeline. You will be an independent Scientist, with minimal supervision, working on characterization, method development, optimization, and method validation projects and subsequent sample analysis across a number of different Pharmaceutical disciplines. Required skills and experience: BSc/MSc/PhD in Biology/Chemistry (or related scientific discipline) is essential. In-depth knowledge of NMR with over 5 years’ experience using techniques for the analysis of pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals. Comprehensive experience of working in a GxP regulatory laboratory with strong understanding of GMP/GLP/GCP principles. Method development and method validation experience following ICH M10/ICH Q2 guidance. Expertise in the operation of NMR. Practical knowledge of techniques to extract pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals from biological matrices (e.g. serum, plasma, CSF, and urine). Able to assimilate and develop new techniques and technologies within the laboratory and troubleshoot methodologies. About the opportunity The role will require strong communication and influential skills which will be required to collaborate with key members of the team. In this role, you should be proactive in problem-solving and solutions-focused with an understanding of Client expectations, commercial elements, and how this impacts both the business and the Client. Key activities: Perform independent NMR analysis and interpretation with minimal supervision. Experience with the characterization of a variety of molecule types (such as small molecules, oligonucleotides, peptides) using 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Assignment of 1H, 13C, 31P, and 19F chemical shifts against expected chemical structures. Experience with quantitative NMR and complex formulations (mixtures of large molecule APIs with small molecule excipients). Providing analytical services to customers in the pharmaceutical and bioanalytical sectors in accordance with GMP, GLP, and GCP within a GxP regulated laboratory. Ability to work unsupervised, planning and performing analytical work, generating and interpreting data and generating reports when required. Ability to assimilate and develop new techniques within the laboratory and work in new areas if required. Good understanding of theoretical basis of the techniques and their application to pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals. Ensuring studies meet the required quality standards and that are fit for purpose according to clinical phase and regulatory expectations. Ability to problem solve autonomously without relying on specific written procedures; draw on literature to formulate best plan of action involving staff from other teams as necessary. Confident communicating directly with clients; establish requirements and report outcomes; implications of the results generated; formulating and advising optimum strategies to tackle problems. Demonstration of commercial awareness. Support Business Development in the generation of quotes involving own technical area. Training and/or mentoring of junior staff.
