About the role

Join our journey, make a difference! Our Highways and Transport team are responsible for the provision of statutory highway services that all residents of North Northamptonshire use. The Streetworks team helps provide a safe road network that operates efficiently and effectively by ensuring works carried out on the Highway network by highways delivery partners and statutory undertakers are carried out efficiently and with minimal disruption to road users. Undertake the inspection, recording and reporting of Street Works, Permits, Highway infrastructure and surface defects in accordance with Street Works legislation and associated regulations and code of practice and other relevant highways legislation. Ensure compliance with the NRSWA and North Northamptonshire Permit Scheme for road and street works to enable the Council to hold utility providers and other contractors working in the highway accountable for their works on the highway network. Ensure that inspections and other operations are carried out in accordance with the Code of Practice. Ensure the cost-effective and efficient co-ordination of required works identified through inspections. Ensure that the needs of customers and users of the public highway network are met. About you

You will be an experienced highways professional with specific knowledge of highway maintenance techniques, traffic management requirements and engineering solutions. We are looking for someone with significant experience in streetworks and highway permitting, who understands the mechanisms of managing roadworks on a local authority highway network, as well as the operations of utility companies and the council's service providers. Good organisational, IT and communication skills are essential. A customer-focused outlook is essential in meeting the needs and demands of the residents of North Northamptonshire, as well as experience of dealing with Councillors and other external stakeholders.
