The Great Western Hospital are seeking a Nurse Associate to join the team on the Neonatal Unit. Main duties of the job
As a band 4 Nurse Associate you will be working alongside an experienced team to provide care to a range of babies with a variety of conditions. Our Neonatal unit has 18 cots, which is comprised of 2 intensive cots, 4 high dependency cots and 12 special care cots. We are a designated Local Neonatal Unit, (Level 2) providing care for preterm babies from 27 weeks' gestation and for sick newborn babies. We also have a Transitional Care unit soon to have 8 beds. To undertake the core competencies for a nurse associate. Work within clearly defined accountability frameworks and boundaries of limitation to provide the best possible care in collaboration with colleagues, patients, their families and carers. Contribute ideas and support with the implementation of change, ensuring compassion for service users is maintained. Assess the root causes of problems, and deal with them and with people with honesty and integrity, showing interest in your work and seeking and valuing the contributions of others. Escalate referrals for complex patient management needs to the registered practitioner. Pro-actively escalate any concerns about the provision of patient services to the appropriate registered practitioner. Work with multidisciplinary team colleagues towards achieving shared goals. Undertake reflective learning in relation to practice, listening to the opinions of others including patients. Provide and receive constructive feedback. Organise and manage own workload flexibly in accordance with patient needs. Continually assess and minimise risk, escalating to the registered practitioner as appropriate. It is anticipated that this role will continue to develop through the acquisition of further skills, knowledge and competencies to be determined within the clinical teams with the focus on patient needs. Communicates clearly, effectively and confidently with people in the workplace, following detailed and/or multi-step instructions. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others. To support the nurse in charge with the day-to-day planning, the delivery of a high quality nursing service and the continuous improvement of that service. Act as advocate for the babies and families in their care. Adhere to the Trust's safeguarding policies and procedures and ensure that know and practice enables children to be safeguarded. Effectively liaise with all agencies including external who are providing support to families and children at home. An understanding of the structure for the delivery for Community and social care services. Supervision of support workers and student nurses. Commitment to undertake required training. Registered Nurse Associate Evidence of personal portfolio Current NMC Registration Level 3 safeguarding Experience
Recent experience nursing children in an acute/community setting Current knowledge of developments in healthcare Able to demonstrate effective consolidation of nursing knowledge and practice after qualification Level 3 safeguarding children Knowledge and Skills
Developed organisational skills Evidence of effective child protection and safeguarding working. Knowledge of clinical skills An understanding of the structure for the delivery for Community and social care services Disclosure and Barring Service Check
