We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager - Harlow Haemodialysis who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You are expected to be an experienced renal trained nurse, working in partnership with the Matron as an integral part of the Nurse Management team, promoting the principle of cross sites. You will be accountable for the line management of nursing staff demonstrating clinical and managerial leadership, enabling the units to provide the highest standards of care and minimising any risks to service users.

Main duties of the job

Act as a role model to all staff and to be able to be visible in the department. Maintain a high visible presence in department area.

The direct line management of the department staff including grow together, up to date with policies and procedures, rosters, recruitment and selection and supervision of pre and post registration students.

Participate in service planning taking into account corporate, department and professional objectives within a clinical governance framework.

You will be responsible for the implementation of measurable accountable models working to sustain high standards of safe patient care and clinical outcomes.

Responsible and accountable for the management of all nursing personnel issues in a timely manner in accordance with Trust policies.

Responsible for proposing and implementing department policies that underpin the continuous improvement of patient care and services.

Person Specification

Qualifications / Training

Essential Registered Nurse educated to Part 1 of the NMC Register Post registration qualification in renal specialty include recognised Renal course Teaching qualification- Mentorship and preceptorship/998/Practice assessor course Evidence of continuous professional development. Managerial and leadership qualification/ relevant experience

Previous Experience

Essential Significant experience in caring for patients requiring renal nursing, demonstrating a special interest in haemodialysis treatment.

Desirable Evidence of an understanding in expenditure and budget management. Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences.

Skills

Essential Proven track record in change management, to include service development. Ability to communicate effectively at a complex level - excellent analytical written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop own skills and knowledge. Demonstrate a flexible approach, able to react to the changing needs of the department, ensuring sustainability. Demonstrate evidence of strong leadership and motivational skills, ability to lead and motivate a large clinical team. Ability to engage with management and staff, demonstrating excellent negotiating skills to enable high quality service delivery. Performance management skills, including understanding of and invoking disciplinary procedure. Ability to manage self and others in delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet department expectations. Maintain clinical expertise and competence in renal strong role model.

Knowledge

Essential Has in-depth knowledge on managing a busy dialysis unit. Able to recognize the training requirements of the department and provide support to develop the team. Understanding of risk management, health and safety and other clinical governance issues. Knowledge of local and national health care initiatives/innovation to improve patient care, experience and safety. Ability to recognize pressure in the work environment and manage in a professional manner. Evidence of working with and enforcing Human Resources policies and procedures. Financial management ability and competence, including understanding of rosters, skill mix etc. Understanding of research and audit skills and implementation.
