We are looking for an experienced nurse or allied health professional who is proficient in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of minor injury, minor illness, and urgent presentations as appropriate, working within the scope of professional practice and agreed guidelines and protocols. This post will cover the UTC at Clacton and Minor Injuries Unit at Harwich.
You will work with colleagues across health, social care, mental health, and the voluntary sector to ensure holistic and joined-up delivery of care.
You will empower patients to make decisions about their own care and encourage them to exercise their rights and choices, signposting them to relevant community and voluntary services and supporting patients' carers and members of the integrated team with the management of urgent presentations.
We have both full-time and part-time hours available.
Main duties of the job
To utilise clinical expertise, function as an experienced clinician managing the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with a range of urgent care presentations. To have clinical autonomy regarding the clinical diagnosis and future clinical management of presenting patients through clinical assessment and the requesting and interpretation of the results of specific medical investigations. Support patients with advice, information, persuasion, and direction to community resources to encourage self-management and ongoing independence. Provide support, training, and advice to patients, parents, and carers. To have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively. To maintain appropriate clinical records in line with current practice guidelines.

Registered nurse recorded on NMC register or Registered Paramedic recorded on HCPC register. Professional knowledge and skills underpinned by theory and experience, acquired through degree supplemented by specialist training, experience in a specialist field. Evidence of ongoing CPD.

Non-medical prescribing qualification.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
Good communication skills both written and verbal. Excellent knowledge of a range of advanced therapeutic interventions relevant to the care group including the relative benefits of each and the comparative outcomes. Specialist skills relevant to the care group.
Experience
Essential
Proven experience within the relevant care group. Advanced competencies relevant to the care group. Experience of managing complex and/or highly specialist cases. Supervising the delivery of care to patients presenting with a range of urgent care conditions.
