Bright Stars Nursery School Bright Stars is a respected nursery school, dedicated to nurturing each child’s intellectual, physical, and social development in a safe, creative environment. The setting features modern, welcoming facilities, including a beautiful outdoor area surrounded by mature Lime Oak trees. About you You are a passionate, ambitious Assistant Nursery Chef/Cook who loves to prepare nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals and would be happy to take responsibility for the safe and hygienic management of our nursery kitchen. What you'll be doing As an Assistant Nursery Chef/Cook, you will be responsible for providing balanced and nutritional meals for all children attending the nursery and catering for children with specific dietary needs. You will maintain stock levels, ensure stock rotations, and ensure compliance with Food and Hygiene legislative requirements. You will: Ensure all children are kept safe and have rich stimulating food-related experiences Adhere to COSHH and follow relevant guidelines Deputise for the Cook in all absences, with the expectation of deputising full time when this is required What you'll need Level 2 qualification in Food and Hygiene Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role Understanding of Health and Safety regulations and COSHH Reflecting the Storal values around responsibility, openness, and working together What you'll get Up to £12 per hour based on experience and qualifications Annual wellness day off 50% childcare discount Access to retail and other discounts through Perkbox 20 days holidays (plus Bank Holiday), increasing to 22 days after 2 years service and 25 days after 5 years service Performance related bonuses Dedicated learning and development support Access to one-to-one confidential counselling sessions through our Employee Assistance Programme Storal is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
