Support for Children in Nursery

About the Role: Are you passionate about supporting young children with special educational needs at a Nursery age? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and nurturing nursery school in Wimbledon. This part-time position involves providing targeted support for children with special needs, helping them thrive in a safe and stimulating environment. Opportunities are available for an immediate start as well as for the new academic year in September.

Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to young children with special educational needs in a nursery setting. Work closely with the nursery team to create an inclusive environment where each child can flourish. Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's specific needs. Support the children in daily activities, encouraging social interaction and engagement. Use a variety of strategies and resources to support children's learning and development. Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the nursery team and parents. Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being. Assist with personal care needs as required. Participate in training and development to enhance your skills in supporting children with SEN.

Qualifications and Experience: Essential: Previous experience working with young children, particularly those with special educational needs. Understanding of child development and the ability to implement age-appropriate activities. Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children. Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues. Flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting children's individual needs. Desirable: Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Early Years Practitioner or Teaching Assistant qualification. Experience working with specific needs such as speech and language delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or developmental delays. Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and its application in a nursery setting.
