The Nursing Accreditation and Quality Improvement Manager plays a vital role in maintaining excellent clinical standards and monitoring the quality of patient care, safety, and experience within the organisation. This role involves coordinating and delivering the trust-wide ward accreditation programme, including developing timelines, creating communication plans, allocating resources, preparing reports, and monitoring progress to achieve accreditation goals focused on patient safety and quality.

The postholder will support the Nursing Quality Improvement and Accreditation Lead in delivering trust-wide nursing ward accreditation and quality improvement projects aimed at achieving operational excellence, culture change, improved patient outcomes, and enhanced safety and patient experience.

He/she will co-drive initiatives to promote excellence in care, continually improving clinical standards and organisational KPIs. Effective decision-making, strong communication skills, and the ability to challenge, work independently, and collaborate within a team are essential for success in this role.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be supporting the Nursing Quality Improvement and Accreditation lead nurse with the delivery of trust-wide nursing accreditation and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the maintenance of high clinical standards while enhancing patient care, safety, and experience.

The post holder will also support the lead to plan and coordinate assessment and accreditation reviews of all nursing/midwifery clinical areas, focusing on professional standards, safety, and quality in line with national and local trust standards. This role requires effective decision-making, strong communication skills, and the ability to challenge, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be supporting the Nursing Quality Improvement and Accreditation lead nurse with the delivery of trust-wide Nursing Accreditation and quality improvement initiatives.

To implement, monitor and sustain effective nursing Quality improvement and change programmes across the trust and provide assurance.

Plan and co-ordinate Assessment and Accreditation reviews of all nursing/midwifery clinical areas, focusing on professional standards, safety, and quality in line with national and local Trust standards.

Working across the Trust conduct audits and observations of performance against nursing KPIs. Assessing areas using highly developed specialist knowledge about Assessment and Accreditation and knowledge of clinical areas, identifying, and drawing to the attention of the Quality Assurance Lead Nurse and Associate Directors of Nursing/Midwifery, areas of good practice and areas requiring intervention.

Ensure collaborative working with stakeholders to ensure the standards related to Care Quality Commissions (CQC) regulatory frameworks are met throughout the Trust and that this is supported by appropriate evidence.

Inform stakeholders of key risks, issues, and performance information, addressing items that require action.

To implement and manage the Nursing and quality productive programmes that provide support, training and development strategies of improvement that contribute to Accreditation Bronze Wards.

Participate in setting and reviewing standards for practice and evaluating outcomes.

Support and lead on promoting clinical engagement in assessment and accreditation and identify and escalate as appropriate key risks relating to nursing/midwifery care delivery.

Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staff promoting and delivering evidence-based practice. Build respectful and professional links with clinical staff at all levels and contribute to and implement policies to ensure we have a highly skilled and competent workforce.

Provide effective input into ensuring the NMC standards are implemented and embedded in nursing and midwifery practice through effective communication skills.

Person Specification

Education, Training & Qualifications

Essential

1st Level live NMC (RG) RN(C) OR RN(MH) depending on specialty At least 5 years of clinical experience & at least 2 years of management experience Teaching/assessing/coaching qualification Educated to degree level

Desirable Level 7 Leadership/change management/Quality improvement

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Quality improvement & change management Leadership & team management -Experience of leading a team, coordinating, and taking charge Appropriate experience as a Senior Nurse eg Band 7 or above (3 years or more) with team-leading experience Detailed knowledge and understanding of Assessment and Accreditation methodology and Quality improvement.

Skills

Essential Computer literacy and Presentation skills Ability to write reports and present the findings to a range of audiences Proven ability to lead meetings, including agenda setting, chairing the meeting, facilitating engagement, and synthesizing a conclusion Ability to communicate effectively to external audiences and represent the trust within the community
