An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 6 at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We require a Nursing Assistant to join our team. Ward 6 is an innovative and forward-thinking, 19 bedded Acute Elderly Admissions Ward. We are looking for experienced candidates who have a commitment to ensuring safe and high-quality care is delivered to our patients, as well as being a role model and supporting other members of the MDT. On Ward 6 there is a strong focus on multidisciplinary team working, to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to appropriate care settings. You will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team, delivering all aspects of care to patients and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, but not essential. These posts will be rotational between day/night shift and cover seven days a week. The main purpose of the role is to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the nurses and the ward manager. To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team To maintain high clinical standards To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment Encouraging the patients to be active and implement therapeutic intervention Job responsibilities
To assist the qualified nurses in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. To give basic nursing care, e.g.; assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision. Monitor patients observations and vital signs including fluid balance To report accurately perceived changes in a patients manner, observation, eating habits etc. To promote health within the ward setting. Organises own day-to-day work tasks or activities under supervision of qualified staff Able to respond to the changing needs of patients and ward routines. Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration
Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience Experience and knowledge
Previous care experience in a health or social care setting Disclosure and Barring Service Check
