An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Burns team for a motivated Nursing Associate to join our friendly, dynamic team. Our priority is to offer the best standards of holistic care for our patients recovering from a burns injury. The burns ward at QVH is a regional referral unit for patients who have sustained both major and minor burns injuries and includes 6 ward level beds, Burns Outpatients Department, Burns theatre, and a 2 bedded rehabilitation unit. Experience in burns management is not necessary as full training will be given. Main duties of the job

Carry out a full range of delegated duties, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's condition and care with support from the registered nurse. Work within the scope of practice of the nursing associate role to understand the level of complexity of patient care to be undertaken. Maintain the privacy and dignity of all patients whilst adhering to Trust and department policies, reporting any concerns to a registered nurse. Work without direct supervision once key learning outcomes of the induction or preceptorship programme have been completed. Prioritise nursing care and recognise deterioration in a patient's condition and alert senior staff immediately. Maintain accurate, legible, and timely written and electronic records of care. Use effective communication, written and verbal with all levels of staff including the multidisciplinary team, patients, and relatives. About us

Clinical Provide and monitor care for the patients, maintaining high standards at all times. Be aware of responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, reporting via the appropriate system any faulty or damaged equipment or practices in the ward or department that could be detrimental to the health and safety of patients and staff. Occasional exposure to distressing circumstances, such as care of acute patients supporting relatives and involvement with the care of critically ill patients. Maintain accurate, legible, and timely written and electronic records of care. Will communicate a range of sensitive information; understand how to manage barriers to communicate in relation to providing information to patients and relatives. Contribute to integrated care fostering good relationships with other departments, multidisciplinary teams, and visitors to the department. Adhere to policies and procedures applicable to department role, promoting by example a high standard of quality nursing care. Promote health and prevent ill health through participation with health education and explanation of treatment to patients and relatives/caregivers. Manage and administer medications in line with NMC Nursing Associate guidelines and Trust policies. Education and Training

Successfully complete key learning outcomes from the preceptorship and/or local induction and competency programme during the agreed time parameters. Support the induction of new staff to the department. Act as a supervisor for unregistered and new-to-role staff once appropriate training has been given. Be involved in the correct use of equipment and assist in the training of others as required. Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Associate Experience

Competent in basic wound and asepsis management Experience in a hospital or equivalent care setting Working within a multidisciplinary team Skills

Good interpersonal and communication skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check
