An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Burns team for a motivated Nursing Associate to join our friendly, dynamic team. Our priority is to offer the best standards of holistic care for our patients recovering from a burns injury. The burns ward at QVH is a regional referral unit for patients who have sustained both major and minor burns injuries and includes 6 ward level beds, Burns Outpatients Department, Burns theatre and a 2 bedded rehabilitation unit. Experience in burns management is not necessary as full training will be given. Main duties of the job

Carry out a full range of delegated duties, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s condition and care with support from the registered nurse. Work within the scope of practice of the nursing associate role to understand the level of complexity of patient care to be undertaken. Maintain the privacy and dignity of all patients whilst adhering to Trust and department policies, reporting any concerns to a registered nurse. Work without direct supervision once key learning outcomes of the induction or preceptorship programme have been completed. Prioritise nursing care and recognise deterioration in a patient’s condition and alert senior staff immediately. Maintain accurate, legible and timely written and electronic records of care. Use effective communication, written and verbal with all levels of staff including the multidisciplinary team, patients and relatives. Person specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Associate Experience

Competent in basic wound and asepsis management Experience in a hospital or equivalent care setting Working within a multidisciplinary team Skills
