POSITION PURPOSE: Each resident receives safe and quality care and services that meet their needs, agreed goals and preferences. Care and services are provided in a way that is culturally safe, appropriate for people with specific needs and diverse backgrounds, and supports reablement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Endorsed nurse (EN) practice is centred on contributing to the holistic care of a person that is evidence-based with preventative, curative, formative, supportive, restorative and palliative elements. Practices in accordance with Opal HealthCare's values, policies and procedures and all legislative requirements. Maintains own capability for practice through ongoing professional development and growth. Models leadership skills, supports/coaches and supervises the care team, including mentorship as required. Appropriately delegates aspects of practice to enrolled nurses and others, in accordance with their scope of practice. Provides effective timely direction and supervision to ensure that delegated practice is safe and correct. Participates in professional development; shares knowledge as appropriate with care team members. Maintains annual refresh and essential core education and training requirements. Supports induction programs and ongoing training for new and existing care team members. Participates in personal and team members’ annual performance/development reviews as required. Uses appropriate processes to identify and report potential and actual risk related system issues to the Registered Nurse. Identifies and reports where practice may be below the expected standards to the local Leadership Team. 2. Quality Care Contributes to and attends holistic, comprehensive assessments that are culturally informed, and use a trauma integrated healing approach. Uses a range of assessment techniques to systematically collect relevant and accurate information and data to inform practice. Works in partnership to determine factors that affect, or potentially affect, the health and wellbeing of the resident to determine priorities for action and/or for referral. Uses assessment data and best available evidence to review established plans of care that reflect the resident’s preferences and agreed goals of care in consultation with the Registered Nurse. Ongoing liaison with members of the integrated team, to identify and review resident care needs, plan interventions and review outcomes of care. Ensures the Registered Nurse is informed of relevant issues, including resident incidents and reportable incidents within designated timeframes. Follows WHS standards/safe work practices. Incorporates and applies infection prevention and control principles in all work practices. Active involvement in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Active participation in and contribution to organisational meetings as required. Utilises and manages resources in an efficient and cost-effective manner, through appropriate use of clinical consumables, equipment and minimization of waste. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Demonstrate understanding of Opal HealthCare's values through work performance and positive behaviours. Demonstrate ongoing professional development through improved skills and performance outputs. Demonstrated adherence to WHS and Quality Systems maintaining accurate documentation. Participates in continuous improvement activities. Fosters a collegial and positive work environment. KEY CAPABILITIES Proven people skills including relationship building, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussions. Person-centred focus, adaptability, respecting diversity, innovative thinking, application of evidence into practice and self-management. Sound clinical knowledge, particularly in relation to aged-related health issues. An awareness of own values and beliefs surrounding health and aged care with an ability to identify and respect an alternative view. Be aware of limitations in own knowledge and seek appropriate education and training. Present oneself in a professional and respectful manner. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in both written and verbal forms. Excellent organisation and time management skills. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of the aged care industry and regulations. Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse (with Notation). Current police check (within last 3 months).
