As a member of the dietetics team for adult patients working under the supervision of Band 7 Dietitians, you will provide a specialist dietetic service to complex medical and surgical inpatients. This will focus on inpatients requiring nutritional support, with reference to those with surgical and gastrointestinal conditions where dietetic intervention is appropriate. There will also be an opportunity to provide outpatient support for patients with surgical/gastrointestinal problems. You will deputise for Band 7 Dietitians as agreed and support Band 5 or 6 Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants. Lead on audit, development and writing of clinical policies in your area of work. Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior members of staff. Take an active part in the education and training of all levels of health care professionals and medical staff. Qualifications/training and professional development
An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or similar non-UK qualification. Dietitian registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Membership of relevant BDA Specialist Interest Group. Experience
Able to demonstrate a variety of dietetics experience. Experience of managing own caseload including the management of complex cases and able to support others in effectively managing their caseload. Experience of supervising and facilitating a supportive role with students on clinical placements and supervision of staff members. Experience of developing and delivering training. Can give examples of quality initiatives to improve the delivery of patient care and own involvement in specific initiatives. Able to use behaviour change/motivational interviewing/advanced communication skills to support implementation of dietetic treatment plans. Excellent communication skills and able to communicate effectively with various groups of people including service users and health care professionals, both as individuals and in a group setting.
