Occupational Health Advisor

(OHA), that will cover the areas of

Birmingham and East Midlands. As an OHA you will be working: 2 days in our Birmingham Medical Center (B3 3HT) 1 day in our East Midlands Medical Center (DE74 2NJ) or case management 2 days case management/remotely on customer sites across the area of Cambridge, Birmingham, East Midlands. What You’ll Do As an OHA you would be responsible for the delivery of a full range of Occupational Health (OH) duties including Case management, all the Mandatory, Regulatory and General fitness medicals eg Rail industry medicals, Safety Critical medicals, Health Surveillance, Train Drivers medicals , HAVS 3 (is an added advantage), Health and Wellbeing services; More specifically: Work in conjunction with our customers, either at a medical centre or customer site or remotely to provide support, advice and guidance to managers and employees in relation to sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessment, stress management and return to work following absence. Lone working: Ability to work in medical centre and onsite without close or direct supervision. Conducting health surveillance /various Medical assessments, Case management, Network rail , Train Drivers medicals and Safety Critical medicals. (Training can be provided). Provide advice to managers and HR regarding staff who are considered incapable of undertaking their normal duties and responsibilities whilst working within the guidelines of customers policy. Provide advice and support to managers and supervisors undertaking risk assessments relating to health matters affecting their staff. To ensure that knowledge is maintained of up to date legislation and best practice relating to all Occupational Health issues. To work with head office to increase utilization of the service in the described area and to carry out dashboard work where required. To participate in the network learning opportunities, to undertake updates on clinical improvements and actively complete performance related clinical goals. For example, delivery an update at a network day on a clinical innovation relevant to the network. Required Qualifications Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health (and be on Part 3 of NMC Register) with evidence of continual professional development. A qualification in Hand Arm Vibration and experience of collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols is desirable. The ability to carry out medicals / surveillance including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS and safety critical medicals. Experience in the Rail industry to undertake Train Driver Medicals with additional training. The ability to conduct case management assessments face to face and remotely. Have the ability to work closely and effectively with HR, Health & Safety professionals and our occupational health partners. Have the ability to identify key health issues and assist in the development and provision of procedures and solutions. Have the ability to travel between sites, must have business insurance. Be competent in the use of computers including Microsoft and Excel software.
