Are you an experienced and passionate Health and Wellbeing Practitioner looking to make a difference in the health and safety of Scotland's firefighters and rescue personnel? Join the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on a 12-month fixed-term contract and play a vital role in supporting a dedicated and high-performing workforce.

About the Role As a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner, you will deliver high-quality occupational health services to support the physical and mental wellbeing of the fire and rescue workforce. You will ensure that all staff are fit for their demanding roles and provide expert guidance on health-related matters. The role is hybrid, with some work-from-home flexibility. However, during the initial phase of the contract, there will be a fair amount of travel required across Scotland, depending on your expertise in clinical audit and governance.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive occupational health assessments, including pre-employment checks, health surveillance, and fitness-for-work evaluations. Provide tailored advice on rehabilitation, return-to-work plans, and workplace adjustments. Lead and support health and wellbeing initiatives that promote both physical and mental health. Collaborate with managers and multidisciplinary teams to provide expert advice and guidance on workplace health issues. Ensure compliance with clinical governance and audit frameworks to maintain the highest standards of service. Travel across Scotland as required, particularly during the start of the contract, to meet operational needs and establish processes.

Skills and Experience Required To excel in this role, you will need: Professional registration as a Registered Nurse (NMC) or equivalent healthcare qualification. Demonstrable experience in Occupational Health, including clinical governance and audit processes. Strong ability to deliver evidence-based advice and support in a professional setting. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. A proactive, flexible approach to working across different locations. A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle to meet travel requirements.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience A postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health Nursing (e.g., SCPHN-OH) or equivalent. Experience working in emergency services, public sector organizations, or other high-risk environments. Knowledge of Scottish workplace health and safety regulations and their practical application in occupational health. Experience designing and implementing health promotion initiatives and programs.

What We Offer A competitive salary of £43,581-£45,767 per annum. Flexible, hybrid working arrangements to support work-life balance. The opportunity to contribute to the health and resilience of Scotland's fire and rescue personnel. Professional development and the chance to work in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.
