An exciting opportunity has come available to join the Occupational Therapy team at the Trevor Gibbens Unit at Maidstone within the Forensic directorate. The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010). Main duties of the job
We are looking for an Occupational therapist with experience, skills and an interest in working with service users: To assist in identifying, developing and providing the Occupational Therapy contribution within the multi-disciplinary service in accordance with the needs of service users and the requirements of the service. To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions for identified service users. To manage a defined caseload of service users with occupational needs using evidence based, service user centred, hope and recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention orientated principles and practice. To adhere to and apply the current Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of Occupational Therapists and HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and Standards of Proficiency for Occupational Therapists. To effectively liaise with service users, family, carers, advocates and health and social care professionals regarding service user’s assessment, treatment and care to ensure continuity of care and delivery of a coordinated service as a member of the MDT. To assess capacity and obtain informed consent from service users and work within a legal framework with those service users who lack capacity to consent to treatment. To ensure service users are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their care plans wherever possible. In conjunction with colleagues to undertake, record, review and work within individual risk assessment and management plans in line with service and Trust policy. To support the implementation of the current and future Allied Health Professions (AHP) strategy. Person specification
Pre-registration Experience of working with patients with autism and/or mental health conditions. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Experience of working with patients within a forensic setting. Experience of managing their own caseload. Your employer pays 23.7% towards your pension and life assurance benefits. 27 days for full time or pro rata if part time. After 5 years NHS service: 29 days full time or pro rata if part time. After 10 years NHS service: 33 days full time or pro rata if part time. Plus bank holidays, that’s up to 41 days - more than 8 weeks paid time off! Medical staff have national Terms and Conditions.
