Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a varied role in a reputable, innovative and established service? Join our Berkshire Eating Disorders Service (BEDS), where you'll play a crucial role in supporting young people with eating disorders - including where these disorders are co-morbid with neurodevelopmental diagnoses. Based in Maidenhead & Reading with some work from home, you’ll be an experienced OT with a holistic skill set and will work within our multidisciplinary team to assess, develop and implement care plans. We offer evidence-based interventions and therapies in a supportive outpatient setting. Working closely with young people and their families, you’ll join us in having a patient-centred tailored approach with a core principle that every decision is made through the eye of the patient. You’ll be part of a service renowned for its innovation and pioneering methods, for example, our SHaRON service which has subsequently been rolled out across other services and Trusts. Provide skilled assessment and treatment for children and young people with eating disorders. Deliver individual and group therapy sessions, including mental health interventions, and perform specialist OT assessments with various tools. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and contribute to service evaluations and audits. Offer guidance on lifestyle changes and environmental adaptations for patients and their carers. Lead on OT-related matters within the service. Use your occupational therapy skills to support the multi-disciplinary team. Represent occupational therapy at multi-disciplinary and professional forums as needed. Improve care standards by developing OT practices, promoting evidence-based methods, and participating in audits and quality improvement projects. Maintain regular contact with CYPF Division and Trust Professional Leads for Occupational Therapy. Work with families, carers, and other professionals from community CAMHS, social care, and voluntary sectors to support the wider CAMHS service in Berkshire. Working for our organisation

The “must haves” for this role: Be a qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration. Previous experience working with children/young people with mental health problems. Experience of individual and group work OT intervention. Experience in a community role with the willingness and ability to operate from different sites. Education/Qualifications/Training

Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy. Good standard of general education. HPC Registration. Previous experience of COT preceptorship programme. Further relevant qualification in the field of mental health. Continuous Professional Development

Evidence of continuous professional development. Previous Experience

Post-qualification experience which may include role of a supervisee for junior staff or students, and leadership experience, which may be gained if you have been working as a qualified O.T. for 2 years or more. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health problems. Experience of working with people with mental health problems. Experience of individual and group work OT intervention. Experience of multi-disciplinary team working. Experience of working in a community mental health service. Experience of supervising staff and students. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Thorough working knowledge of mental health problems and their management. Knowledge of OT assessment and treatment approaches. Knowledge of current mental health policy. Ability to offer a range of good quality OT assessments and treatment interventions to individuals and groups. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work autonomously and set own priorities within caseload management. Ability to apply patient-led principles and form non-discriminatory therapeutic relationships with the service users and their parents/carers. Ability to take responsibility appropriate to senior clinician role, and make decisions. Ability to contribute creatively to the development of the service. Ability to work within a changing and progressive environment. Ability to deal with emotionally demanding situations, and to remain calm under pressure. Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance. Additional Requirements
