Due to expansion, Aspris Children’s Services are recruiting for an Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy team, working across three of our specialist schools in Frome.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and passionate person with the experience and drive to make a real difference to our young people. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, which would suit someone experienced in a special-needs environment. They will be required to work closely with both Occupational Therapists and other professionals to provide direct support to our students.

The Schools

The postholder will be required to work between our two well-established schools: Newbury Manor School and North Hill House, as well as in our new school Fromefield Manor which opened in September 2024. Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for 62 pupils aged 6-19 who have autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs; from those who are broadly average in their ability, to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.

We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they can fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties. The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society.

Fromefield Manor School will be a new SEN school located in central Frome, Somerset and which is a special school for young people aged 11-19 who have a diagnosis of autism with associated complex needs. Fromefield Manor is operating through a Total communication approach and so experience of working with pupils with ASD and associated sensory processing disorders would be an advantage.

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.

For more information please call Robyn Hill on 07720891703 or email robynhill@aspris.com.

If you want to progress your career, Aspris will help you get there.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years; for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our Schools.
