Would you like to develop Stroke Occupational Therapy specialist knowledge and skills, working in a rehabilitation unit and the community across Hull and East Riding?

The Occupational Therapy team aims to maintain an innovative approach in meeting the growing needs of stroke survivors who are often of working age, supporting them to regain independence in meaningful and valued roles and routines such as personal care, functional mobility, return to work, and community access.

The service strives to keep up to date with developments in stroke rehabilitation and collectively continues to develop specialist knowledge and application in numerous areas such as specialist seating, positioning, upper limb therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, fatigue management, and adjustment following stroke.

Main duties of the job

Following on from the success of previous group therapy innovations, the service is particularly motivated to further develop the offer of group therapy education and therapeutic groups to collectively meet the individual needs of stroke survivors. Previous innovations have included horticultural therapy, creative music making, and mindfulness-based interventions.

Mentorship and supervision are provided by the senior staff within a friendly, multidisciplinary, supportive environment.

The ability to commute within the Trust's geographical area with access to the appropriate means of transport is essential. Hull, which was City of Culture 2017, has much to offer - with affordable housing, galleries, theatres, a vibrant music scene, and easy road links to the Yorkshire Coast, Moors, and Dales.

For informal enquiries, please contact Clare Nicholson, Occupational Therapist Advanced Practitioner Stroke, or Anna Marritt, Operations Manager on 01482 303669. Please do not ring this number for application packages.
