An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated HCPC registered Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our established, friendly and supportive team within the East Riding Community Team for Learning Disabilities. As part of the East Riding CTLD you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists and Learning Disability Nurses. We also work closely with our social care colleagues. We will support you with specialist training and supervision to reach your potential and excel in your chosen career path. Experience in equipment and adaptation, moving and handling and supporting people to engage in meaningful occupations would be an advantage. Main duties of the job

To follow the Occupational Therapy Process (information gathering, assessment, treatment planning, intervention, evaluation and discharge planning) and contribute to care planning process as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. To manage own caseload. To assess capacity, gain valid consent and work within legal framework appropriate to service area. To offer education, advice and training to informal and formal carers to best support client safety. Ensure patient documentation is accurate, maintaining complete and contemporaneous records in line with HCPC/RCOT and Trust standards. Promote the involvement and engagement of patients/service users and carers/relatives. Ensure understanding of own and others level of accountability and responsibility when delegating tasks and duties to students and support staff. Ensure that practice is within scope of own ability, knowledge, skills and experience. To ensure that practice is within the RCOT Code of Conduct and professional standards as well as Trust standards and policies. Provide occupational therapy advice to other disciplines. Undertake the practice educators course to supervise OT students. About us

Qualifications and Knowledge

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy Registration with the Health Professions Council A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area. Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments, and their use in practice. Knowledge and understanding of the evidence-based relevant to the clinical area. Basic IT skills. Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent knowledge/experiential learning. Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students. Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area. Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area. Experience

Successful completion or willingness to undertake preceptorship. Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in the relevant service area. Understanding of caseload management clinical responsibilities. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area. Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development. Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation. Experience of learning disability interventions - moving and handling, specialist equipment, PBS, Sensory Integration. Skills and Competencies

Evidence of good time management skills. Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity. Ability to commute between the various sites. Mandatory training to support safe practice and the management of violence and aggression. Ability to safely manoeuvre patients/service-users and or equipment. Requirement for frequent concentration e.g., assessments, care plans. Awareness of leadership/management skills and qualities. Working knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
