The Secure Care CBU is a regional service offering care and treatment to individuals who have either mental health, personality disorder, or learning disability diagnoses and have come into contact with the criminal justice system. The service works across medium and low secure inpatient wards, the community, and prison. An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Occupational Therapists to join our team based in the medium secure Mental Health Pathway on our rehabilitation ward and within our Personality Disorder Pathway. Within our rehabilitation service, you will initiate interventions that support pro-social occupational routines and aid transition into the community. Our personality disorder pathway is one of only two units of its kind in the country and works very closely with probation and prison services; the main emphasis of this post is to assess interpersonal functioning to aid transition within the criminal justice pathway. Although initially based within our medium secure mental health and personality disorder pathways, there will be opportunities to rotate and experience our other specialisms. You will be supported by a clinical specialist Occupational Therapist, assistant practitioners, and the wider team of professionals to develop specialist knowledge and skills to work within this environment with this client group. Main Duties of the Job

The role of the Occupational Therapist is to primarily assess occupational needs and initiate interventions that support pro-social occupational routines and aid transition to the next step of the individual's pathway. You will work as a core part of the multidisciplinary and occupational therapy teams to provide: Comprehensive assessment of occupational needs using both standardised tools and structured clinical observations Set collaborative therapeutic goals to support the development of address occupational performance needs Undertake 1:1 and group interventions in a variety of environments Maintain standards of clinical documentation Dependent on experience, you may also be expected to supervise others and take students on placement. Qualifications

HCPC Registration BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy Commitment to complete fieldwork education training Postgraduate experience/training within mental health Knowledge and Experience

Placement experience of either mental health, personality disorder, or learning disabilities Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards, and other local and national initiatives Experience of working with service users and carers in successful delivery of intervention plans Multi-disciplinary teamwork Knowledge of relevant contemporary professional theories and evidence-based interventions Postgraduate experience in secure environments Skills

Proven ability to develop therapeutic partnerships with service users and carers To provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions Proven ability to communicate interventions to service users Demonstrate effective written and communication skills Ability to work under pressure Ability to work autonomously and within a team Effective time and caseload management skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check
