or experienced Occupational Therapists to join the Devon-wide Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Service working with adults in the following locations; Permanent post based in North Devon (from Bideford &/or North Devon District Hospitals) with a requirement to work across 2 MDTs (into the Mid MDT - from Crediton and Okehampton Hospitals) Fixed Term (6 month) position in South West Devon (based from Follaton House Totnes) with a requirement to work across 2MDTs (into the South East MDT - from Newton Abbot). Permanent post based in our Exeter MDT with a requirement to work across 2 MDTs into the East MDT based in Honiton These exciting posts support career development & progression. We are looking for imaginative, creative & enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to work with people with learning disabilities who are experiencing additional distress & have complex needs. You will focus on assessing & providing specialist OT assessment, interventions &/or consultation to support people being active members of their home & local community, promoting engagement in meaningful occupations. Due to the large geographical area suitable access to transport is required. Main duties of the job
Our core business as Occupational Therapists is specialist assessment & intervention promoting engagement in meaningful occupations to maximise health and wellbeing. You will have, or be willing to develop, experience of managing a specialist caseload of adults with severe and complex learning disabilities who have additional health needs in a variety of community settings. While working as an autonomous practitioner, you will be supported by Specialist Occupational Therapists, other members of the MDT and participate in the Service's formal professional supervision and appraisal programme. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and develop your skills and knowledge, in a supportive environment. You will have, or a desire to develop, knowledge & skills in relation to relevant occupational therapy models such as the Model of Human Occupation and/or the Model of Creative Ability. Depending upon experience there is the potential to further develop knowledge in the specialist area of sensory processing assessment and intervention. Where required we will support you to undertake necessary training to develop these skills and more as identified through appraisal processes. You will provide management & clinical support to junior Occupational Therapy staff based within the team including Occupational Therapy students and apprentices. About us
