An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the clinical and therapy team based at Cotswold Chine School and the wider Trust. The team currently consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Social Workers, Drama Therapists, and Psychotherapists. This role forms part of the pathway at Novalis Trust to work towards becoming a qualified Occupational Therapist over time and would suit an individual seeking further training within a specialised area of therapy. The role will involve working alongside an Occupational Therapist to deliver interventions across the education and residential settings at Cotswold Chine School. A strong focus will be on implementing sensory regulation strategies within a trauma-informed and attachment-focused model of approach. Main duties of the job

Responsibilities for this role: Maintenance of stock and equipment. Co-facilitating group sessions and supporting children to engage in activities or following intervention plans that support them to achieve their Occupational Therapy focused goals. These may be group or individual sessions and may take place in a variety of contexts including within the education, residential settings, and outside of the school environment. To work autonomously in the delivery of clinical interventions using highly skilled creative and specialised skills to engage children in therapeutic activities. To adjust the approach of own clinical interventions based on the changing needs of the client group. To motivate and encourage children to engage in areas of daily living which may include self-care, domestic tasks, and leisure activities which are meaningful and purposeful to them, as directed by qualified Occupational Therapy staff. To be aware of, and apply, the principle of risk assessment and management to all aspects of their clinical work. To keep accurate, professional and timely records of the children's sessions and to document and monitor their progress over time. To communicate the children's progress to Occupational Therapy staff and share this with other professionals within the multi-disciplinary team where appropriate. About us

Qualifications

BSc in Psychology or similar health/sports based course. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
