An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic Forensic Mental Health Service. The Occupational Therapy Service is based at the Humber Centre for Forensic Psychiatry, working across both medium and low secure provisions. The post holder will form part of a robust multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment interventions to individuals with complex mental health and learning difficulties. The role will support the Occupational Therapists to plan and deliver a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions to patients, including group work. Within the role, the successful candidate will receive robust clinical supervision and opportunities for learning and development. We are a friendly and supportive team with a flexible approach. Main duties of the job

To work with the Occupational Therapy Team within the Forensic Division you will be expected: To provide Occupational Therapy, as delegated to support patients/service-users within standard operation procedures and contribute to the care planning process as a member of the team. To be responsible for working with delegated service users and contributing to assessments and interventions to address key occupational performance areas, taking into account identified risk factors. Undertake general duties within the department. To work in adherence with Trust and local policies and procedures. To plan own time under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist. To participate in clinical supervision. To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working. To contribute to safety and quality improvement activities as part of the occupational therapy team. To use the Trust electronic patient record system. To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges. About us

Qualifications & Knowledge

NVQ III in health or social care or equivalent relevant academic knowledge and experience. Working knowledge of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g., Mental Health Act, DOLs, Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion etc. Willingness to undertake further development/training. Maintain the behavioural standards of the Trust. Able to work under the direction of a qualified member of staff. Able to work under the guidance of the policies and procedures and maintain the required mandatory training. Able to work as an effective and flexible member of a team. Have good communication and interpersonal skills to engage and advocate for patients that may experience complex mental health needs. Can work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and patient group. Hold a full driving licence (if applicable). Experience

Appropriate knowledge/experience of working within mental health/learning disabilities or relevant clinical practice areas. Experience of working in Occupational Therapy. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
