This is a fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern for this position is 5 days 9 - 5. We are delighted to advertise this Occupational Therapist Technical Instructor post within our highly motivated and innovative medium secure team. The forensic Occupational Therapy Department works across medium & low security and in the forensic community Mental health team. The role of the forensic Occupational Therapist department is based on the evidence that engagement in meaningful everyday activity is important for promoting health, reducing symptoms of mental illness, reducing or managing risk and offending behaviour. Through supervision with senior Occupational Therapy staff, support staff undertake agreed therapeutic interventions with clients, who experience mental health difficulties and offending behaviours and have a requirement for secure care. Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist within the forensic directorate, the post holder will be expected to: Use technical/creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible client-centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of clients who experience mental health difficulties and have offending behaviours. This will involve supervising and working with patients on a one:one basis, either in a secure ward environment, the local community or the person’s home. Have the ability to facilitate planned group work and individual activities, with adjustment of clinical interventions based on the needs of the client group.
