An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technician within our Vale Community Learning Disability team. The successful candidate will support the Occupational Therapists, providing specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to individuals with a learning disability, supporting individuals to live independently in the community and providing specialist advice. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with excellent communication skills. We are seeking a dynamic, flexible, and motivated Occupational Therapy Technician to join us in Swansea Bay University Health Board. Main duties of the job

To be a fully engaged member of the Occupational Therapy Team providing a service within a defined area, supporting the therapists with clients who may have complex needs in a range of settings including hospital community, patients' homes, schools, and outpatient settings. To take responsibility for implementing and managing aspects of the assessment and the care and treatment programme as delegated by the Occupational Therapist in line with service protocol and frameworks. To promote independence, health, wellbeing, and safety within the community and inpatient settings adapting the clients' social and physical environment to support the individual's optimum function. Maintain clinical records and report accurately to others. Carry out administrative duties in relation to clinical, service, and departmental needs. To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities including completion of the Diploma of Occupational Therapy Support. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. About us

Qualifications

Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care Documented evidence of participation in training activities Experience

Understanding of the role of occupational therapy Relevant experience working within health, social or teaching settings Skills

Ability to work single-handedly with individuals and/or groups Effective written and oral communication skills Ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service and prioritise workload appropriately Planning and organisational skills Ability to reflect on own performance Ability to undertake physical activity involved with therapeutic and care handling of patients using appropriate equipment e.g. hoists Ability to promote a professional image of the Organisation Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £26,928 to £29,551 a year pro rata.
