OLG Recruitment are currently looking for a Berthing Manager for our major client located in Immingham. Job Summary: The Berthing Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that vessels (such as barges, supply ships, or construction boats) safely dock and undock in the port. Their responsibilities cover the safe and efficient operations of all berthing activities, the management of personnel involved in these tasks, and ensuring compliance with maritime safety and environmental regulations. This position is essential in projects such as the construction of the IERRT RORO terminal. Key Responsibilities: Berthing Planning & Coordination Safety Management Communication & Stakeholder Management Operational Oversight Equipment & Infrastructure Management Environmental Management Monitoring and Reporting Weather & Tide Management Documentation and Compliance Technical Skills and Competencies: Maritime Knowledge: Strong understanding of marine operations, including knowledge of port logistics, vessel handling, and mooring systems. Project Management: Ability to oversee complex operations and coordinate multiple stakeholders involved in the berthing process. Leadership and Teamwork: Experience in leading a team of harbour personnel, dockmasters, and vessel crews. Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve conflicts or issues that arise during berthing operations, particularly under challenging conditions. Excellent communication skills (including presentation skills) in English, both written and verbal, management and organisational skills. Ability to plan ahead, manage the work time frames and report to Project level. A good working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations and other relevant legislation. Excellent organisation and people management/team building skills. Working understanding of NEC form of contract. Qualifications, Certifications and Experience: SMSTS qualification. CSCS Card Previous experience in berthing or similar role.
